Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya - Out of words....

People said it would be on Feb 14th.. Later, they said it was Feb 19th.. Finally, it was released on Feb 26th.. Yes, "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya" (English meaning - Will you cross the skies for me ?!) - one of the movies I was really looking forward to.. Reading the review, I came to know that it's a beautiful movie given that you have all the time on earth..

On seeing the movie, I almost fell in love with it.. If you are in for some tickling laughter, or some flesh exposure, I would strongly advice you not to watch it.. But rather,if you wanna experience the reality, or your one kinda person who thinks smaller things bring soo much happiness to life, I am sure you would love the movie the way I did.. This movie is all about class and elegance- a reality happening in many households in India..

The storyline is simple - a Hindu guy and a Christian girl, in love with each other.. Do they get a chance to hold their hands together?.. Regular storyline isn't it ?!.. Ofcourse yes, but the difference lies in the way it's expressed...

I don't really get this whole attitude (not only this, but many) prevailing in India.. When people talk about globalisation, world being a global village - why is it still that an inter-caste marriage is not supported in here ?!.. Finally, we end up in this usual blame game and the readymade solutions - our "customs" are different....What really are these "customs" ?! If you start doing things in a new way, for a long time, it becomes a custom.. Only that, we have hiccups to start doing things in a new way..

One major reason for this hiccup being - "naalu paerru naalu vidhama paessuvanga" .. For all the non-tamil folks, the meaning of the above sentence is this "Society will speak different things about you".. And usually, people who represent that "society" are : someone who might have seen you while you were boarding a train, someone who might have wished you "All the best" when you wrote your 1 std. exam, someone who visits your house once in two years, or in the worst-case it might be someone whom you knew all through your life.. Why is it we give importance to the views of these people whom you meet once in a lifetime, just for living your own life the way you want it to be.. Shocked, still !!!!!!

In short - Vinnaithaandi varuvaya - slow, but lovely storyline, elegant music, attractive Trisha, smart Simbu, blatant truth !!!.... Have some patience, notice the smaller things, it would make you fall in love...

The dialogue I liked in the movie :- "Don't search for love, it would come to you one day.. Will make you go in a roller coaster, thats love - true love"..

P.S :- I dunno to whom the following line is addressed to.. So let me address it to the girl whom I ll meet in the future... "I wanna spend the best days of my life with you.... Will you cross the skies for me ?!?!.... " ;)

Trade - One of its kind...

Trade - one such movie which leaves a brutal mark on you even after days...This movie is all about human trafficking, the dreadful things done against girls and children blackmailing and forcing them to indulge in pornographic films..

If you are looking for some high adrenaline action, mind boggling fantasy or eerie stillness, this movie for sure is not your cup of tea. Rather, this movie is all about truth - the real happenings in the world.. This movie has beautifully showcased the love between a brother and his sister...The plight of women, whose dreams stand shattered by amorous money-minded sharks leaves a stinging mark which would lurk human hearts for days to come..

Looking towards the day for the extinction of these "amorous money-minded sharks" whose sexual desires claim the lives of innocent women and children... Extinction, merely doesn't limit to the extinction of these vicious forms of human life, but also to nullify the demand for such films.. I know it doesn't work this way, but lets take a first step to cut down this tortuous trafficking measure...

Iruvar - - - Entire Poem at the Climax..

Well I had posted only a few lines from the climax in the last post.. I felt I wasn't doing justice by cutting lines from the dialogue, so I ll post the entire dialogue in this post.. It goes like this..

Iruvar - - - A Master Piece ...

I happened to see this movie only after 12 long years from its release date.. Indeed, it was one of the best movies I have ever seen.. I was moved to tears when the movie ended.. Hats off to Mani Ratnam for this excellent movie.. The sad part is that, there are only a handful of people among the entire tamil population who love such kind of movies.. This movie is a fictional story of the lead politicians of Tamil Nadu, M.G.R and M.Karunanidhi...

This movie had the right proportion of everything.. It had the fine depictions of friendship, love, pain, hurt, jealousy, betrayal, leadership, loss, disappointment, trust, victory etc... The short poem depicting love between Prakash Raj (Tamizhselvan in the movie) and Tabu was very well written.. It goes like

உன்னோடு நான் இருந்த ஒவ்வொரு மணித்துளியும்
மரணப் படுகையிலும் மறக்காது கண்மணியே!

தொண்ணூறு நிமிடங்கள் தொட்டனைத்த காலம்தான்
எண்ணூறு ஆண்டுகளாய் இதயத்தில் கனக்குதடி!

பார்வையிலே சில நிமிடம் பயத்தோடு சில நிமிடம்
கட்டி அணைத்தபடி கண்ணீரில் சில நிமிடம்!

இலக்கணமே பாராமல் எல்லா இடங்களிலும்
முத்தங்கள் விதைத்த மோகத்தில் சில நிமிடம்!!

உன்னோடு நான் இருந்த ஒவ்வொரு மணித்துளியும்
மரணப் படுகையிலும் மறக்காது கண்மணியே!

எது ஞாயம் எது பாவம் இருவருக்கும் தோன்றவில்லை

The best scene which I loved in the movie was when Mohanlal (Anandhan in the movie) asks the people in the car to step down when they start talking bad about Prakash Raj who was his close friend.. The climax was even more touching.. Prakash Raj and Mohanlal, who were once best friends, developed active enmity during the course of time.. But still,Prakash Raj on hearing Mohanlal's death gets shocked and leaves to the ceremony to pay his final respect which emphasized the height of humanity in the character... The short poem at the climax of the movie deserves mention.. I will quote some of the best lines which I liked from the climax..

These lines just depict the longings of a mind which had lost its soul... The mindset of the person while uttering these lines, the way he longs for the extra time (may be a matter of minutes) which he could have got to spend with his\her loved one, the pain to understand that the loved one ceases to exist no more in his\her life,the intolerable pain created in the heart... These emotions were beautifully portrayed.. To say it in a word, 'marvelous'... Hoping to see such movies in the days to come !!!...

My Favourite Dialogue #3

Here comes my favourite dialogue from the movie 'The International'... The dialogue goes like this..

"Sometimes man meets his destiny on the road he took to avoid it"

Certain things in life destined for you will come to you no matter whatever you do to avoid it.. Thats probably something called FATE.. On this note, I remember a famous dialogue from a Tamil movie "Vidhiyae madhiyala vela mudiyum nu ninaikkiriya ?!?!" :P which means 'Is it possible to overcome fate by wisdom?!'.. Question remains unanswered... :)

My Favourite Dialogue #1

Well, I got this crazy idea of posting up my favourite dialogues from the movies I happen to watch daily.. So I start with this movie ' The Escapist' .. The dialogue goes like this

"Imagination is what protects us, Its what keeps us alive"

That dialogue is almost very true practically.. If looked upon our lives deeply, its what imagination that keeps our whole life running.. A sick person imagines that he would get alright soon.. A defeated champion/team imagines that they would retain their title back soon.. A kid imagines that he would be soon become the hero of his dreams.. Imagination can be closely correlated with 'Hope'.. But definitely, Imagination is what gives life to hope.. Imagination is what gives wings to creativity.. Finally, an individual's character can be easily assessed by his imagination..

My Bucket List !!!

After seeing this movie, i was so inspired that i decided to write my own 'Bucket List'...

1. Get into one of the top universities in US for post graduation.
2. Be notified as a wonderful professional.
3. Aid one kid for his education.
4. Make someone laugh until they get tears in their eyes..
5. Spend one whole day with one cute little baby..
6. Walk in a beach in hawaii or maldives with my girl at midnight, hold her hand firmly and say those 3 magical words to her !!..
7. Give one sweet surprise to my mom and dad..
8. Stay with my family in Switzerland for a couple of days..
9. Kiss the most beautiful girl on earth.. ( this one's copied from the movie.. accepted :) )
10. Drive a car along an endless road (with no potholes of course) with someone whom I consider very close..

The Bucket List !!!

Some months back I happened to watch this movie.. I need to say it was one of the best movies I've ever seen.. I love Morgan Freeman's (Carter Chambers in movie) acting and this one had Jack Nicholson (needless to mention his performance in movie 'Departed') too in it.. thereby making it an excellent movie :).. All I loved about the movie, is its story.. It brought tears in my eyes towards the end..

The movie is about two people from entirely different backgrounds, one being a mechanic and the other being a hospital owner.. They both meet in a hospital owned by Jack Nicholson( Edward Cole in movie).. Within a few days either of them find out that they are on their death bed affected by cancer.. Its when Morgan Freeman writes this 'Bucket List' ... The list of activities which he would love to do before he kicks the bucket.. Jack Nicholson joins with him and together form a list ranging from skydiving, mountaineering to Dinners and partying...

The one scene which really swept me off my feet was when Jack Nicholson kisses his grand daughter and strikes off 'Kiss the most beautiful girl on earth' from his Bucket List.. One particular thing that needs special mention is the character of Edward Cole which i felt was portrayed so well.. He was transformed from a guy who wasn't worried about anything to such a philosophical person when Carter died.. The speech which he makes during Carter's funeral was way too good !!..

One thing what i felt from the movie was a ' true relationship' can change anyone.. Its just that such true relationships are so rare to find now-a-days.. The tag line of this movie also sounds too touchy.. It goes like this 'When his eyes closed, his hearts opened !!! '... Aint that good to hear ?!..
